Warm and passionate are just two words to describe Cynthia Rose’s singing style Whether it’s a swinging playful delivery or a hopelessly romantic ballad, Cynthia Rose sings of the universal need to share love. Her intimate vocal style was influenced by Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Carmen McCrae and others. In a quartet, a classic trio or an intimate duo, her music always brings a delightful ambience that enhances any occasion.
Raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Cynthia had music in her life from an early age. Her continued studies resulted in a Bachelor of Music and Education.
Life intervened, and coupled with raising a young son, the loss of family, and health challenges, Cynthia reduced her public performances. Returning after a profound healing journey which enriched her musical expression, she sings with a telling emotional wisdom that comes only from experience.
Sensitive to community issues, she founded and ran regular fundraisers called Singing For Suppers with her vocal group ‘Standard Changes’. The Vancouver food bank nominated her she was honored for her fundraising work as a Neighbour Of Distinction in the Vancouver Courier Paper.
Her work also received attention on CBC TV and a review on ‘The Peak’ praised one of the evenings. “The full sonoric beauty of the trio manifested itself during Cynthia Rose’s numbers, composed by Miles Black himself….drew the audience into the ultimate dreamscape of languid relaxation. The concert was a great success…”
As a lyricist, Cynthia Rose and Canadian luminary Miles Black are collaborating to write music that encompasses many years of experience in jazz, rhythm and blues, latin and pop styles.
